Week 9
- This week is a short class week----meaning (below)
- We have a peer review Monday (Brinson)
- Peer Review Tuesday (Dunstan)
- One on One for Zeeman----every one is ready at any time during classes on M,Tues, Wed. I've described what you are expected to do.
- Zeeman drafts on Wed. (during class).
- Projects---Everyone has seen be about orders (on Thursday or Friday) except---Iguchi/Dowdy---if you need orders, lets get it NOW.
- If you have any late work---use spring pause to catch up. Final due for late ----------MONDAY AFTER PAUSE.
- I have a few more things to set up for Hydrogen spectra/Rydberg--if we have extra time, I'll hit that.
-
- Note, Hydrogen spectra involves many pieces of equipment. You will need to know the meaning of what each piece of equipment does.
- Do not use my suggestions for settings as required settings. They get you close, but subtle things you do may require changes in settings (time constant, pmt voltage, slight sizes, sensitivity, scan length, scan speed).
- You should be able to resolve (MUST) the deuterium vs protium lines for at least the red line MUST.
- You should be able to discuss things that impact resolution on your spectra---many, many spectra, many pictures.
- DO NOT HAVE RED OVERLOAD ON AT ANY POINT IN YOUR SCAN (SATURATION, FLAT TOPS, NO NO NO).
-
- Projects---
- We are getting to the point where if I ask you, you must have concrete answers regarding first plans.
- Be prepared, be in class each day (extra time is questions on projects).
- I want everyone to put in brainstorming on each others.
- Be responsive on this.
- If you need project setup space, I may be able to free up more space after Zeeman (we move to the other table).
You are all doing fantastic work. Keep it up.
